Raging head cold turned into a raging sinus infection. Doc, meds and rest.

Ron and I and the dogs went for an easy 3 in the snow. Temp wasn't to bad at 18 and it was breezy. Just good to be out side! Thought my knee and hip would give me trouble since I have run twice in 2 weeks, but they both felt pretty good.

Lots of flood talk and edgy people. The waiting is the worse. Looks like the water will start flowing end of this month.

On the TM @ 9:05. Off to a fundraiser banquet and to help Jared get into his car, as he seems to have lost his keys.

TM again. It was 20 today but I am so done with the cold and wind I wimped out and stayed inside. Pace 9:05 for 2.5. 8:34 for last 1.5. Building back up.

We were walking to the car the other day complaining about the cold and Tara said our muscles are just tired of shivering. I couldn't have said it better.

Talked to the boys CC coach tonight. Two years ago we had to sandbag his neighborhood, but he said this year the city is building a levee to 44 feet behind his place. So he thinks they will be ok.

It was 10 degrees warmer today and the wind was minimal so out we went. It was really a pretty nice day. The track kids were also out and about. I ran 2 with the dogs but the road was not clear from last night's 3 inches that was supposed to be only be 1 inch. So I slipped and slid my way along. The dogs were really annoying today. I don't know if there is a change in the weather coming or what. They kept running ahead then back to me then around me. Bayly slid into me and almost knocked me over. So I was more than happy to be done with them. I did the last 2 on the bike path. Somebody cleared it and the sun had melted what was left so I had a clear route. Much easier running. I think I will stay on hard surfaces until things clear up. And I am not even going to try speed work until the snow and ice are gone. Which means I will have to be on the TM for speed work.

"Sandbag Central" reported they have 2.4 million bags ready to go. They are shutting down this Saturday. Now it is a wait and see. The next flood report comes out in about 10 days. So far nothing has changed from their earlier predictions.

Twice around the truck route. Nothing to write home about. The sun was brilliant! Aaaahhh! I could just feel the vitamin D.

Yesterday was one of those North Dakota days that 70 or 80 years ago would have probably killed people. Started out at 35 degrees in the morning, bright sunshine. Temp climbed to 45 by afternoon, still bright sunshine. By last night the temp dropped to 15 the wind was 50 mph and the snow was blinding. Could not see across the street. Fortunately with modern technology we knew it was coming. We were under a blizzard warning from 3pm yesterday until 6 this morning. Pretty much everything was cancelled and most people were all safely ensconced in their homes.

So I had to run on the treadmill. There just is not any place left to run except the highway. My usual route is drifted and snow covered, the bike path is covered and the truck route is icy and slippery. And the wind is not blowing 50, but blowing enough to put a nice icy chill in the air. I am so hoping this was winter's last hoorah. Weather dude said the temps this week will start the melt. Awesome. Our driveway is down to a lane and a half. There is no place left to put snow.

The March sun is so strong. The bike path is snow free and 1 mile of our "dog" route is completely clear. Maggie ran 2 (need to get some winter weight off of her, she is looking like a sausage with legs). Bayly ran 4. Both dogs got to frolic in the mud, slush and water at the end of the mile line. Ron and I did 6 with the last 2 on the bike path. I wore one long sleeve shirt, one short sleeve shirt and my shorts with underarmur (sp?), that was it! Amazing, warm day. If this keeps up the water will be moving by the April 1st for sure.

So this was my first serious speed workout outside since November. There wasn't any ice or slush or snow. I stayed on pavement and my legs felt great! My pace for the first 3 miles was 8:03, so I am pretty pleased with that. Took it easy for mile 4, but still kept it below 9:00. Sun was out, temp in the 40's. It was a good day!  Oh ya...I love Mr. Garmin! :)

Last week we said good-by to an amazing lady, Ron's bro-in-law had surgery to have a spot on his lung removed and Ron and I both got sick again. The weather is lousy. The flooding has not started because the temps have only been in the 30's. Still huge piles everywhere and we are supposed to get more on Sunday. It is April tomorrow, right?

Ok, I'm done. After all the emotions of last week I thank God that I have 2 strong legs, lungs to take in fresh, chilly air, a heart that beats, eyes to take in His amazing creation and ears to hear the honks of the geese heading north. :) And by the end of this day I will have 5 more miles to add to my mileage.

Fargo is in the Championship bracket on the Weather Channel for the toughest weather in the nation. We are up against Bradford, PA.

5.50 @ 8:57 pace. Slow and easy and quite enjoyable.
