This was the hardest race I have ever done. The elevation and hills killed me. But the course was amazing. My first trail run and the scenery and views made every agonizing step worth it. I had so much fun and met some great people. I am thinking I might have to make it an annual event.

I am taking the week off and will start running again when I get back to ND next week.

Ran with Ron around the truck route. Temp. 78. My legs were heavy and I did not feel the best. I have been busy with yard work and house stuff and laundry since I got back. Ron was helping Dustin farm while I was gone. After 16 hour days he did not get a lot done. At least the place looks like someone lives here now. :) I am always torn this time of year between gardening or running. Decisions, decisions.

Jared is 27 tomorrow. Why do I always feel older when my kids have birthdays?

A measily 2 miles. Planned to go farther, but a crop sprayer messed up our plans. It rained all day, then this evening the sun came out and it was an awesome evening. Bayly had a great time playing in the ditch. Summer running started on Monday for the CC team. I won't be able to go in every day with the gas prices, but I hope to get in to run with them as much as I can. We lost 12 Seniors last year so it will be interesting to see where our numbers are this year.

Had a Dr. appt. so I went in early and ran with the team. We have some new ones and they are young. Yea! Temp is in the 70's and humid. I don't have any races planned this summer except for a local 5K or 10K. I am going to try and concentrate on increasing my mileage this summer. That's my short term goal. Long term: I turn the big 50 in Oct. so I would really like to do something different next summer. I have been seriously looking at the Leadville Heavy Half in Colorado. Just not sure I want to run 15 miles at 10,000 ft. It would be awesome if I could pull it off. Ugh.  I also would like to do the Flying Pig Marathon in Ohio. I raised pigs in 4-H and FFA and I do have a soft spot for them. I would love to have a t-shirt with a flying pig. ( I am all about the t-shirts) :)

Pace 8:26 for 3. Pace 8:49 for 2. I LOVE SUMMER!!!!  It is hot and muggy and the mosquitos are plentiful, but I still love summer. Maybe it is just because of the horrendous winter and spring we had. When you live in ND you learn to never take summer for granted. Now if I could just figure out how to extend it into January. Ok, maybe it could be winter for the month of December so we have a white Christmas. Then the new year rolls in and wahlaa! it's summer again. :)
